  1. Because I want to experiment, see what's possible, and earn more experience. It's great to have people tell you "hey, doing something this way is not going to work out well if you want to achieve xyz and want to spread your software". But generally saying "don't do it at all" is something I don't support. I've expanded my knowledge about several things by simply taking the wrong approach and scrapping it right after, but in most cases I needed that knowledge in other situations. I personally like to do things "wrong", just to see what happens.
  2. You're right, I never wanted a coremod. I never said I wanted to modify anything Minecraft-related. I chose a JDK class, because that's exactly my goal. That will be part of one of my mods, if I can get it to work. Feels like you have a passion to tell people that coremods are bad, I would still appreciate any guides or tutorials modifying class behaviour at runtime using ASM. Once again: I never wanted a coremod.
  3. Hey, I wanted to figure out how to transform classes and modify their behaviour. Sorry if I'm using wrong terms, I'm just starting with this. Is there a guide with a working tutorial using ASM within or without a Forge environment? Doing the modifications is not the problem, I just don't seem to understand how to get it to modify yet. Example: I want that the method body of System#currentTimeMilis does something else than what it currently does (e.g. returning a random number). This is not a use case I want to do, but it's the same principle. Any help / guidance is appreciated.
  4. Hey, I've been bothered by the fact that the RenderHandEvent is not getting called when Optifine is installed and a shader is active. Is this intentional? Is this something you can change? Is there a workaround for this?
  5. Yo, I have multiple question and other things I'd like to ask someone about and that'd be much easier in a "chat", such as Skype, PM, or similar. If you have some spare time to help me and answer my questions! Don't worry, it's about about two of my Forge mods, that's why I put it in here, don't know any other good place to look for people.

  7. Awesome! It might remain a mystery why or how that happened, but you reminded me of adding that check and now it's flawlessly working, thank you
  8. Hey, I simply want to render a text smaller than default. This is my first attempt: http://pastebin.com/HuDM7cmN Text size is all fine, but no matter if I push / pop the matrix it causes issues with the hunger bar. I'm an OpenGL noob, but might get started with it when I have time. I've tried several other things I've found, also tried to reproduce some vanilla code, but nothing worked so far. Any help?
  9. Alright. Do you know what was causing the crash anyway?
  10. Even cleared the cache manually and redownloaded the packages including guava, still the same. EDIT: Replacing the build path manually with the 17.0 one worked. Not sure why that happened, but alright
  11. http://i.imgur.com/h5vhKEW.png Apparently it checks for the cases and THEN sets the sprinting state.
