Unable to start forge-1.12.2-14.23.5.2855 for Forge server

I've been trying for a few days now to start a server with me and a friend. I plan to use Hamachi and have all the mods already installed, however im having some trouble setting up the actual server itself. I am unable to launch the forge jar file created when installing the forge server installer. I can run the vanilla minecraft_server jar and it will start up with no issues. I've tried everything i could think of, I've reinstalled Java, made sure im using java 8, and tried different versions of the forge server installer. If someone could please help me I'd greatly appreciate it.
