With that big of a version jump, the usual recommendation is to rewrite the mod from scratch, carrying over only the ideas of features, and copying none of the code. This means you get a fresh perspective on modding concepts that have changed since then, and you aren't constantly blocked in a "what's the replacement for this" cycle for everything in the older version that doesn't have an exactly-named counterpart in the newer version.
