[1.7.2] Progress on unobfuscation?

I've seen code examples like this in other forum posts:

Item.field_150901_e.func_148756_a(...);

I'm assuming (hoping) that there will eventually be a version of the code that provides an unobfuscated name for this method, like in the 1.6.4 version of Forge. Until that time, I'm going to be writing some adapter methods to insulate my code from these names.

Thanks in advance.

Deobfuscation happens slowly, as it requires uses determining what a function does, or what a variable is for, then reporting it back to the deobfuscation team (through MCPbot, usually).

Apparently I'm a complete and utter jerk and come to this forum just like to make fun of people, be confrontational, and make your personal life miserable.  If you think this is the case, JUST REPORT ME.  Otherwise you're just going to get reported when you reply to my posts and point it out, because odds are, I was trying to be nice.

Exception: If you do not understand Java, I WILL NOT HELP YOU and your thread will get locked.

DO NOT PM ME WITH PROBLEMS. No help will be given.

I am not sure how its being handled.  I only know how it was done previously, but I do not know if things have changed or not.

Assuming they haven't, then you'd need to log into the #minecraftforge channle on esper.net IRC and start a conversation with MCPbot

this should help.

I tried to connect to #minecraftforge on irc, but it answered "* #minecraftforge :Cannot join channel (+r) - you need to be identified with services". Im a total noob in IRC, if someone could explain what should i do to conect :P

And MCPBot on #mcp-modding seems to be not yet updated.

Help us make the unofficial [de]obfuscated function names in 1.7.2!

@Nzkiwi: you need to register your nickname with nickserv, google is your friend here, its pretty simple

Also, the issue with the obfuscated names is not so much the mappings as getting srg2source up to speed with gradle. It currently uses python but will be rewritten in java so it can interface with gradle properly or sommat. Untill then you can join #mcp on esper and talk to MCPBot

CreepyPastaCraft git | SCPCraft git

Keep an eye on them, see that I'm still working on it :P
