[1.7.2] How to make custom Glass panes

Copinman

Recommended Posts

Thinking about it you might not even need a new class (unless you want it to have custom properties/functions)

Static Block newGlassPane;

newGlassPane = new BlockPane("glass", "glass_pane_top", Material.glass, false);

//First String 'glass' is the side textures, Second String 'glass_pane_top' is the top and bottom, maybe even rims, then the Material, the boolean i'm not sure but leave it as false. I haven't looked into the class too much to see it's use.

so you could so your own with this:

Static Block myPaneClone;

myPaneClone = new BlockPane("stone", "cobblestone", Material.rock, false).setHardness(1.5F).setResistance(10.0F).setStepSound(soundTypePiston).setBlockName("stoneSheet");

but like I said if you need to have custom functionality you can create a new class that "extends BlockPane" and overwrite the methods you need

Hi, I try it doing that way

  @EventHandler

    public void load(FMLInitializationEvent event){

  newGlassPane = new BlockPane("glass", "glass_pane_top", Material.glass, false);

    }

But eclipse give me an error "The constructor BlockPane(String, String, Material, boolean) is not visible"

How can I fix this?

I tried it, saw the same issue, for some reason BlockPane's constructor is "protected" not sure if that is a forge 'oops' or what.

so what I had to do was extend BlockPane then use that like so:

import net.minecraft.block.BlockPane;
import net.minecraft.block.material.Material;

public class BlockPaneRot extends BlockPane
{
        //NOTE when you have eclipse make the constructor for you it *WILL BE 'protected'* so make sure to make this public like below.
public BlockPaneRot(String flatFaceTextureName, String rimTextureName,
		Material mat, boolean bool) {
	super(flatFaceTextureName, rimTextureName, mat, bool);
	// TODO Auto-generated constructor stub
}

}

now you can call your mimic of BlockPaneXYZ toss in the textures and set the values of what you want.

defining it:

public static Block myPane;

-----

myPane = new BlockPaneRot("stone", "cobblestone", Material.rock, false).setHardness(1.5F).setResistance(10.0F).setBlockName("stoneSheet");

-----

GameRegistry.registerBlock(myPane,
			myPane.getUnlocalizedName().substring(5));

You are using the GameRegistry.registerBlock with a null object. That's not a forge bug.

Don't PM me with questions. They will be ignored! Make a thread on the appropriate board for support.

1.12 -> 1.13 primer by williewillus.

1.7.10 and older versions of Minecraft are no longer supported due to it's age! Update to the latest version for support.

What he means is you are registering the block before you actually make it.

like GameRegister(MyBLock,"name")

then you try to say MyBlock = newBlock;

can't do that. define the object then register it.

Look at the order of this:

public static Block myPane;

-----

myPane = new BlockPaneRot("stone", "cobblestone", Material.rock, false).setHardness(1.5F).setResistance(10.0F).setBlockName("stoneSheet");

-----

GameRegistry.registerBlock(myPane,
			myPane.getUnlocalizedName().substring(5));

Remove construct MainClass()  - the thing below

public MainClass() {}

First things first, you should always initalize your stuff in PreInit, never in Init (in your case, load).

Move all the block registration methods (GameRegistry#registerBlock) from your construct MainClass() to PreInit, be sure to put it after you initialize the object (which is myPane)!

// TODO Auto-generated constructor stub

}

}

But still can connect panes each other

//5 Minutes After UPDATE  ::)

Finally Works!!!!!!!!!! :D  ;D;):)

I was very confused with much code...  :P

I find my custom pane on decorations tab and Yes it can connect each other and with other kind of glasses

Thank you so much guys for all support you give me :D

And for new users like me that want to make custom panes, here's the way to do it
