Few questions

I am considering installing MCForge on my jar, but I am unsure about compatibility issues. I know it is not compatible with Watershader, but I don't use it anymore anyway for performance reasons.

1. Is MCForge not compatible with any of mods from the following list:

- Noppes' NPCMod

- Mods from MCPatcher

- Modloader

- Huge Trees Are Huge

- Cape mod by cjz__ (mccapes.com)

2. Can I play with forge jar on non-forge servers? I recall this have been issue in the past, is it still?

Never heard of it, does it overwrite base files?

MCPatcher breaks things.

- Modloader

Not incompatible, but not needed anymore, Forge basically includes its functionality now.

I think I was able to, but been a long while since I have tried.

Nope, it's a ML mod.

- Mods from MCPatcher

MCPatcher breaks things.

Which exactly?

- Huge Trees Are Huge

Never heard of it, does it overwrite base files?

I am unsure, and can't find it right now.

- Cape mod by cjz__ (mccapes.com)

Never heard of it, does it overwrite base files?

Yes, but only yw.class. Other classes are intact.

2. Can I play with forge jar on non-forge servers? I recall this have been issue in the past, is it still?

I think I was able to, but been a long while since I have tried.

Can you try it for me? I don't want to try strange things like magic launcher that let me have different jars, unless I have to.

As long as they do not edit any base files then they should work.

- Mods from MCPatcher

MCPatcher breaks things.

Which exactly?

MCPatcher's code for texture handling conflicts with forge, MCPatcher needs to update.

Yes, but only yw.class. Other classes are intact.

Forge has hooks in yw.class, so it is unlikely that they would work together, one or the other would break, depending on install order, and if Forge breaks it usually means a crash due to how low level it is.

Hmm, I do not have any non-forge servers to test on right now.  As for your set up you can always do as I do, I just have multiple directories with fully self-contained MC installs.  :)

Yes A MC forge client should connect to non-forge server perfectly fine.

Also, we don't support MCPatcher as the bulk of what it does is now in FML, and Optifine is the way to go for anything extra like that.

MCPatcher does some nasty stuff, even if you disable everything in it it will still inject its code in and screw things up.

I do Forge for free, however the servers to run it arn't free, so anything is appreciated.
