creating a pickaxe.

I've added an item with a pickaxe and a pickaxe sprite but idk how to begin implementing the pickaxe part. is there a pickaxe class or something I have to call ? also is the durability the same as the max damage? I want it to be 1.5* the durability of a diamond pickaxe so I set it to 2343 but I'm not sure if that's right.

as much as I like lmgtfy links  ;D that isn't at all helpful. if you could link to a specific tutorial which is up to date that would be helpful but most all but one of the results on the first 3 pages are download links to mods and the one moding tutorial says to use a enumhelper that doesn't exist anymore.

1) Make a custom ToolMaterial using

EnumHelper.addToolMaterial(...)

(parameters should be self-explanatory).

2) Make you item class extend ItemPickaxe, passing in your own ToolMaterial.

3) Make sure you register your item as a normal item.

4) Done.

Don't PM me with questions. They will be ignored! Make a thread on the appropriate board for support.

import net.minecraftforge.common.util.EnumHelper;

Apparently I'm a complete and utter jerk and come to this forum just like to make fun of people, be confrontational, and make your personal life miserable.  If you think this is the case, JUST REPORT ME.  Otherwise you're just going to get reported when you reply to my posts and point it out, because odds are, I was trying to be nice.

Exception: If you do not understand Java, I WILL NOT HELP YOU and your thread will get locked.

oh ty...eclipse normally gives import as a mouse over option under those circumstances...

Normally.  Sometime it fails though and I do something like this:

ClassThatWontImport l;

Which makes it painfully obvious to Eclipse what it is I want.
