[1.8][Solved]Loading Variants of the same block

Do not use

ModelBakery.registerItemVariants

or

ItemModelMesher#register

. Use

ModelLoader.setCustomModelResourceLocation

(called in preInit) instead.

This is really not hard, you specify a location and a variant. This will look at the blockstate json specified by the location and the variant inside it.

I've written this model loading code to load my variants, but the blocks still show up as un-textured blocks. The models don't load either. The log is saying that it can't find the blockstate files, but I checked and they are in the blockstate folder. What am I doing wrong?

Moved registerBlocks back to the CommonProxy.

RegisterRender.RegisterModel is what registers the models for my items.(moved that up to preInit)

    • "Required" in the sense that it's the correct way to do things to maintain mod compatibility. But loot tables are still loot tables and can still be overridden with data packs. Forge won't stop you from doing it.
    • Hi all, First post here. I have tried to solve this myself but I can't identify the problem. I used to use version 1.16.3 and in the console I was able to press up and down to access commands in the history and tab for auto completion of the command. Now I upgraded to version 1.17.1 and I these keys don't work anymore. How can I enable auto complete? Thanks. System info: MinecraftForge version 37.1.1 Minecraft 1.17.1 with MCP 20210706. OS: Ubuntu 20.04.3 openjdk 17.0.1 2021-10-19 OpenJDK Runtime Environment (build 17.0.1+12-Ubuntu-120.04)
