So i am making a mod to make building in survival easier and i am working on an item that changes the biome of the block right clicked.  I have searched on google and on the forums but i havent found a way to change the biome after world generation.  As far as I know minecraft doesnt normally do this so i dont know if it's even possible.  Any suggestions would be nice.

Biomes are stored in the

Chunk#blockBiomeArray

field. Use

World#getChunkFromBlockCoords

to get the

Chunk

at the specified position, then use

Chunk#getBiomeArray

to get the biome array.

This array stores the ID of the

Biome

at each x/z position within the chunk, using

(z & 15) << 4 | (x & 15)

as the index. Use

Biome#getIdForBiome

to get the ID of a

Biome

.

Please don't PM me to ask for help. Asking your question in a public thread preserves it for people who are having the same problem in the future.

It crashes when i use this code im sure its because of how im setting the biome but im  not sure how i should do it.

worldIn.getChunkFromBlockCoords(pos).getBiomeArray()[index] = (byte) Biome.getIdForBiome(new BiomeSnow(true, null));

Yeah, no shit. Creating a new biome instance is not the same as referencing an existing instance.

Apparently I'm a complete and utter jerk and come to this forum just like to make fun of people, be confrontational, and make your personal life miserable.  If you think this is the case, JUST REPORT ME.  Otherwise you're just going to get reported when you reply to my posts and point it out, because odds are, I was trying to be nice.

Exception: If you do not understand Java, I WILL NOT HELP YOU and your thread will get locked.

DO NOT PM ME WITH PROBLEMS. No help will be given.
