[1.11] There's something wrong with my recipes

So, I'm not sure what is happening here. When I create a new world, the game crashes with this error: http://pastebin.com/UucBkVUG However if I comment out the recipe initialization, everything works fine. All of the code is available on github but the recipe class is here: https://github.com/61352151511/Random-Utilities/blob/1.11/src/main/java/com/sixonethree/randomutilities/common/init/Recipes.java

Did ANY of your recipes involve the MAGIC_CARD, HEART_CANISTER, DISPLAY_TABLE, or MAGIC_CHEST?

Because they are unregistered.

They exist, but because the game needs to register the recipes, the world crashes. I had this exact same problem with my mod a while back. I had 1 single item unregistered used in my recipes, and it crashed my game.

This is just my thoughts, try it and see if it fixes it. Or, just wait for someone more advanced to come back to comment.

Gonna wait for "someone more advanced" because I still have no information of how to fix it. The items get registered before the recipes attempt to get registered, I don't know why it's printed in the log like that. The exact same thing was printed in the log from 1.7.10 -> 1.10.2 that I'm aware of and the game never crashed that I remember.

Ok, so first of all, you are not using

@ObjectHolder

correctly.

@ObjectHolder

is designed to fill in the fields, so if you fill the fields in yourself it's pointless to put the annotation there. Do one or the other, personally I prefer just filling the fields yourself, annotation magic is nice, but only in moderation.

In your case this causes all the fields to be set to null, because there is no registry object with the name "MAGIC_CHEST" or "DISPLAY_TABLE", etc. Please read the documentation on what

@ObjectHolder

actually does.

Then... oh god, please no. Haven't seen that one in a while... Why do you do this?

So from what I'm reading you're basically saying to remove the ObjectHolder annotation? Done, and it still has the same crash.

I don't know to be honest. I think I started watching Pahimar's "Let's Mod [Reboot?]" series back for 1.7.10 and it worked, so I never questioned it. I think the reason was to do with getting the mods name in the unlocalized name but I have no idea. If it's something I shouldn't be doing (Is the mod name in the unlocalized name automatically now?) then I'll remove it.

Yes, but like you also found out, that is not actually the issue here. The issue is this. ItemStacks must never be null, anywhere, and this is initially null when called from the StatList.

Yes, I know this comes from Pahimar. It's just way too ugly for something so simple. Want the mod name in your unlocalized name? Here goes:

setUnlocalizedName(getRegistryName().toString())

- Done!

Thank you, I knew ItemStack's couldn't be null anymore, and I searched all of my classes for "null" when I did the update. I missed the fact that just doing "ItemStack result;" would be null and also needed the change.

I'll change the code to get rid of that and set the unlocalized name that way.

    • I made a huge forge 1.7.10 mod pack but whenever I try to create a singleplayer world I get the error saying "A fatal error has occurred, this connection is terminated." Does anyone know what the issue could be?  Here is my fml-client-latest.log from when it crashes: https://paste.ubuntu.com/p/3rKSJSqnrX/ and here is the list of mods: https://imgur.com/a/AZifMbg

    • Made a modpack (Well Rounded Blockheads, in case the modlist on curseforge helps) and server to host it, worked fine until last night. The issue that pops up after some days being up/working is when you leave a world (singleplayer) or shutdown a server, the process hangs and jumps to 8.5gb ram used, eats up CPU usage (50-60% in taskman on a 3800x) and just sits there. If done on a single player world, the game doesnt fully crash, (e.g. if you alt+f4 buttons like save and quit, options stay in the window, are still clickable but they do nothing) Saving seems to still happen, as location/inventory updates if I restart server or client and play the world again.   If I start the currently afflicted server but dont login the server closes properly, its only once I log back in the problem occurs. Its a priv server and I dont have anyone else to test atm so Idk if its a prob with my player or players/area in general. Only recent changes in game are the additions of a pnuematicraft pressure chamber, an enchanting table, and bookshelves from builders crafts and additions.... I've been trying to get help on this all day, so ANY assistance goes a long way, even if its a way to debug this myself >~< Debug/Latest logs
    • Thanks warjort. I was afraid, that this is because they are entities. Now I know where to dig. But what about water, for example? I have checked via debug code, that there is no entity there (appropriate method return null). What is wrong with liquids?
