There really should be a Modder Support section.

The way I read it, Support and Bug Reports is for user issues and crashes, General Discussion is for discussions about anything related to Forge in general that doesn't fit a specific category, Requests is for getting subforums for your mod and Suggestions is for the submission of hooks into the API. There's no solidly defined area for help for modders using Forge, but I think it's a big enough category to warrant its own forum section.

Support was really intended for both user and modder Forge help, since a modder is just a user of forge in a more intimate way.  It really seems to me that 'requests' belong in the request board, and help with using forge or minecraft belongs in the support board and once resolved someone should make an article on the wiki.  Would such a 'modder support' board really be busy enough to warrant it?

Forge Modding Support may or may not be a great idea as a new board. In terms of how people will see it on the site, it'll be a place seen explicitly for asking about problems one might be having with the code. It's not difficult to see why people believe the current "Support" selection is only for installation errors, and why they instead ask the general discussion board instead.

With the internet, you can't leave much to speculation. Someone is bound to speculate incorrectly, and others will follow in their example before they're corrected, as it may be the first they've seen on it.

But I think the real problem of having it as its own board would be that far too many people will expect you to hold their hand through the coding process and expect everyone to bend over backwards to show them how to do something correctly.

Uhh... I think. ??? Don't mind me if I'm just blabbing. :P

Check out my

Texture Packs Thread here on the Forge Forum. :)

Currently in the process of adding some mod support for JohnSmith Texture Pack.

I think that is the point of this thread that people need help and assume that support isn't for that which if I am right is the place for it at the moment. New people like me and active users that have never asked for help wouldn't know to use support so they use  general discussion. That not bad and no one is complaining, it just not strait forward enough. I my honest opinion making a new bored would be helpful and as far as I can see it would get used quite a bit. As far as people wanting you to write there code for them goes; there is always going to be people like that. People so far have be polite and  showed them to proper forums to learn jave / forge/ fml etc. or offered them a creative way to solve the problem without handing them code.

    • What MC version? What's the IP? Are any mods needed to be able to join?
    • Thank you for your answer ! Unfortunatly i have the same problem when i use setPos() public static int movingfunction(CommandContext<CommandSourceStack> context){ CommandSourceStack source = context.getSource(); if (!(source.getEntity() instanceof ServerPlayer)) { return 0; } ServerPlayer player = (ServerPlayer ) source.getEntity(); double moveSpeed = 0.5; for (int i =0; i<10000;i++) { LOGGER.info("running for the {} time", i); double x = player.getX() + player.getViewVector(1.0f).x * moveSpeed; double y = player.getY(); double z = player.getZ() + player.getViewVector(1.0f).z * moveSpeed ; Vec3 movementVec = new Vec3(x, y, z); LOGGER.info("x ={} y ={} z ={}", x, y, z); player.setPos( movementVec); } return 1; } With the logs i can see that x and z are increasing but once again my player is not moving. is there a function to use to sync the server and the client ? I also tried to use LocalPlayer instead of ServerPlayer but my code would stop when i got the object. Also i will change a bit the main topic but is there a way to similate key press ? i found KeyBinding.setKeyBindState on others post but it look like there is no more KeyBinding in 1.20   I found this code : KeyMapping.click(Minecraft.getInstance().options.keyUp.getKey()); But it doesn't seems to work   And i found this one : Minecraft.getInstance().options.keyUp.setDown(true); wich works but doesn't exactly do what i want , it doesn't release the key so for exemple i can't make him run. Minecraft.getInstance().options.keyUp.setDown(true); Minecraft.getInstance().options.keyUp.setDown(false); Minecraft.getInstance().options.keyUp.setDown(true); doesn't make him run
