I am having trouble getting the texture for my custom crop to work.

  • The models for your blocks and items must be registered in your client proxy. Your current code will crash a server.
  • Don't use the unlocalized name to create your ModelResourceLocations. Use something like new ModelResourceLocation(thing.getRegistryName(), "inventory").
  • The error message clearly tells you what's wrong, it is trying to load the model for age 7, but you only specified ages 0-2 in your blockstate.

I already have all my models registered in my client proxy:

package me.kingofmines1.testmod.proxy;

import me.kingofmines1.testmod.init.ModArmor;
import me.kingofmines1.testmod.init.ModBlocks;
import me.kingofmines1.testmod.init.ModCrops;
import me.kingofmines1.testmod.init.ModItems;
import me.kingofmines1.testmod.init.ModTools;

public class ClientProxy implements CommonProxy {

	@Override
	public void init() {
		ModCrops.registerRenders();
		ModTools.registerRenders();
		ModBlocks.registerRenders();
		ModArmor.registerRenders();
		ModItems.registerRenders();
	}

}

and I only have ages 0-2 because I don't want anymore stages. How do I stop it from looking for more stages

Your ModBlocks class still has a reference to the client-only class ModelLoader. This means ModBlocks is also implicitly client-only, but you will load it on a server. This will break.

As for how to make it less stages, change the IProperty of your crop to only have values 0-2.

How do I change the IProperty of the crop and how do I fix the ModelLoader thing... sorry I'm such noob :\

You will need to create your own property. It's not hard. As in, you could literally copy-paste it and change one number.

Move it out of your blocks class and into your client proxy.

Apparently I'm a complete and utter jerk and come to this forum just like to make fun of people, be confrontational, and make your personal life miserable.  If you think this is the case, JUST REPORT ME.  Otherwise you're just going to get reported when you reply to my posts and point it out, because odds are, I was trying to be nice.

Exception: If you do not understand Java, I WILL NOT HELP YOU and your thread will get locked.

DO NOT PM ME WITH PROBLEMS. No help will be given.

No, you understand it and then adapt it to your needs.

How much programming / Java experience do you have?

I have basic java experience. Sorry I'm having so much trouble understanding what you guys are saying. I don't understand how to make this property thing.

The Forge docs has an introduction to using block properties - link. The vanilla crops class has a block property with 8 age values. Since you want your crop to only have three age values, you need to create a new property and then override all references to the vanilla property in the code so that the crop ages in the way you want it to.

When I was brand new to Java and modding, I had a hard time understanding properties, too. You will be doing yourself a favor in the long run if you work hard at understanding Java. Also try some detailed modding tutorials. I used BedrockMiner's to start out with and found them more helpful than most other tutorials because they address basic concepts. The biggest disadvantage is the most recent ones are still for 1.8.9. But this one might help you get a better idea of what block properties are and how they can work:

https://bedrockminer.jimdo.com/modding-tutorials/basic-modding-1-8/blockstates-and-metadata/

Keep in mind this tutorial uses an enum to store the properties, but it looks like for crops you will use an integer. Beyond just defining the property itself (which is the one line you quoted above), there are probably a few methods that refer to the property that you will also need to modify.

    • so i watched this tutorial on youtube(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vZgYjHwKcHA&t=691s) for make sittable blocks and even if is a 1,12,2 tutorial video a kind of translated it to 1.16.5 code but is not working "correctly"; the SeatEntity spawns in MY position and not in the position of the chair, and it blocks me the mouse movement in Y, and i can't shift for exit the chair, i can break blocks but my hand is kind of freeze in time (https://imgur.com/a/6xoKrV5)   this is my code:  @SubscribeEvent public static void test(PlayerInteractEvent.RightClickBlock event) { PlayerEntity player = event.getPlayer(); if(player.getRidingEntity() != null) { return; } World world = event.getWorld(); BlockPos pos = event.getPos(); Vector3d vec = new Vector3d(pos.getX() + 0.5f,pos.getY(), pos.getZ() + 0.5f); double maxDistance = 4.5D; if((vec.x - player.getPosX()) * (vec.x - player.getPosX()) + (vec.y - player.getPosY()) * (vec.y - player.getPosY()) + (vec.z - player.getPosZ()) * (vec.z - player.getPosZ()) > maxDistance * maxDistance) { return; } BlockState state = world.getBlockState(pos); ItemStack mainStack = player.getHeldItemMainhand(); ItemStack offStack = player.getHeldItemOffhand(); if(!mainStack.isEmpty() || !offStack.isEmpty()) { return; } if(state.getBlock() instanceof StairsBlock) { //List<SeatStair> seats = world.getEntitiesWithinAABB(SeatStair.class, new AxisAlignedBB(pos,pos.add(1,1,1))); SeatStair seat = new SeatStair(EntityType.ARMOR_STAND,world,pos); world.addEntity(seat); player.startRiding(seat); } } public static class SeatStair extends Entity { public SeatStair(EntityType<QUESTIONMARK extends Entity> type, World world, BlockPos pos) { super(type,world); setPosition(pos.getX() + 0.5D,pos.getY() + 0.2D,pos.getZ() + 0.5D); } @Override protected void registerData() { } @Override public void tick() { super.tick(); BlockPos pos = getPosition(); if(!(getEntityWorld().getBlockState(pos).getBlock() instanceof StairsBlock)) { setDead(); return; } List<Entity> passengers = getPassengers(); if(passengers.isEmpty()) { setDead(); } for(Entity entity : passengers) { if(entity.isSneaking()) { setDead(); } } } @Override protected void readAdditional(CompoundNBT compound) { } @Override protected void writeAdditional(CompoundNBT compound) { } @Override public IPacket<QUESTIONMARK> createSpawnPacket() { return null; } }
    • I keep getting the following error when I try to start up minecraft. Brief report: I already tried to uninstall forge and download it again, uninstall the mods and download others, I changed the version (before 1.17.1 to 1.18.1), I already deleted the phrase "forge-common.toml of type COMMON for modid forge" and even saving it magically returned to the report.  I also put the crash report here.
    • Hello, I'm trying to make a forge server for me and a few friends to play on. Generally this goes over without too many problems but just recently when i was trying to make a new modpack the server wouldnt start, so I went through removing mods until I could find the error and as it turned out no mods were erroring, as just lone forge wouldnt start. the error I seem to be getting is "19.01 21:59:37 [Server] INFO ERROR StatusLogger Reconfiguration failed: No configuration found for '232204a1' at 'null' in 'null'" I have no idea what this means but after this the console wont send any messages other than "Auto-saving world..." after a couple minutes, and when out of curiosity I tried to join on a client it acted like the server was up but I could not join and there was no response console side from me trying to do so. It does recieve stop and start commands fine though. Thank you
