[1.12] How do I add a tooltip to an ItemStack based on a capability

I blindly stumbled my way through making a capability and I have no idea if it did it right. I'm putting a couple questions into one post.

  1. How do I make my capability save a different value for each itemstack. The code I have right now seems like it would make every Item (of its type) the same thing. (I think, doesn't minecraft only have one instance of every item but its used in different itemstacks?)
  2. How would I add a tooltip that will change (specifically when I craft it with a specific Item)?

Capabilities are attached to item stacks, not items. So this happens by default.

However you have not attached your capability to anything as per the code you posted.

Is this your item? In that case simply override Item#addInformation and access the capability there.

If the item is not yours, you can use ItemTooltipEvent to change the tooltip of any item and access the capability in the event handler in the same manner.

    • When i launch forge-1.16.5-36.2.23.jar eula.txt doesnt come but in older version like 1.12.2 it comes idk why. do you guys know how i can fix this ?
