[1.12.2][SOLVED] Preventing players from moving

Hi everyone,

 

I'm trying to prevent unlogged players to do anything. My next challenge is to prevent players from moving, but I can't find anything that satisfies me.
 

I've been looking into EntityPlayerMP class hierachy and I've found the SPacketPlayerPosLook class, which is sent when a player wants to move.

I wonder if there is a way to stop it. I've been looking from a triggered Event when a packet is sent but I did not find.

 

I've also took a look at the doc and tried to understand how things work but I did not find yet a way to achieve it.

I wonder if an override of the 

IMessageHandler::onMessage(SomeIMessage req, MessageContext ctx)

method would make it.

Any suggestions ? Thanks for your time.

The player movement happens entirely on the client, it just periodically sends packets to the server notifying it of the new position. So your options are either reset the player's position each tick on the server or cancel the input on the client.

I've tried adding a huge Slowness effect to some players. This works great but they can still move by jumping.

So I've been looking for the other idea but I did not find a way to make it being called every tick.

I've been thinking about the onUpdate() method but I haven't found how to link my method and that.

Any suggestions ? Thanks for your time.

Use the PlayerTickEvent.

      How to make an entity with multiple textures? [1.16.5]

      So I've been trying to make an mob that can have multiple textures, and the mob has the Witch model, and I can put a texture on it but I don't know how to make it spawn with a random texture. I tried searching through mobs that have multiple textures like the fox, rabbit, and stuff but I wasn't able to find out how to do it and I kept getting errors when i tried compiling: error: method createKey in class net.minecraft.network.datasync.EntityDataManager cannot be applied to given types; private static final DataParameter<Integer> ALCHEMIST_TYPE = EntityDataManager.createKey(AlchemistEntity.class, DataSerializers.VARINT); ^ required: java.lang.Class<? extends net.minecraft.entity.Entity>,net.minecraft.network.datasync.IDataSerializer<T> found: java.lang.Class<net.newblocks.entity.AlchemistEntity>,net.minecraft.network.datasync.IDataSerializer<java.lang.Integer> reason: cannot infer type-variable(s) T (argument mismatch; java.lang.Class<net.newblocks.entity.AlchemistEntity> cannot be converted to java.lang.Class<? extends net.minecraft.entity.Entity>) 1 error   And sorry there isn't much info, this was the only error that appears when I tried to copy the same thing from one of those mobs with multiple textures (plus imports).       I'm trying to play Minecraft 1.20.4 on Forge using mods, but when Minecraft loads, it says there are non-Forge mods, whereas they are Forge mods. This problem is happening in Forge version 1.20.4 - 49.0.46. I am only able to play with all mods in Forge version 1.20.4 - 49.0.43.

      I had the same issue. The only thing I could do is to remove parchment mappings entirely from config files and replace config files from the MDK: 1. replace build.gradle from MDK 2. restore official mapping in build.properties 3. replace src\main\resources\META-INF\mods.toml from MDK sample.

      How to allocate more RAM to forge server?

      i notice a change if i add the min and max ram in the line like this for example:    # Xmx and Xms set the maximum and minimum RAM usage, respectively. # They can take any number, followed by an M or a G. # M means Megabyte, G means Gigabyte. # For example, to set the maximum to 3GB: -Xmx3G # To set the minimum to 2.5GB: -Xms2500M # A good default for a modded server is 4GB. # Uncomment the next line to set it. -Xmx10240M -Xms8192M    i need to make more experiments but for now this apparently works.
