Being able to place a block on all directions

Im trying to make the "spikes" block placeable in any direction and not only on the floor. This one:

I want to be able to place these on the ceiling. Any idea how this could be done? I tried to go the cheap way and change the texture from the punji stick from this mod which can be placed on the ceiling with the spikes texture from Trapcraft but it doesn't work since it just makes the different models grey:

Instead of green they become grey due the trapcraft spikes texture being grey. How can I make them look like a sprite and not a 3d model? I didn't know where to ask this.

This is the purview of IBlockStates and the blockstate json file.

Apparently I'm a complete and utter jerk and come to this forum just like to make fun of people, be confrontational, and make your personal life miserable.  If you think this is the case, JUST REPORT ME.  Otherwise you're just going to get reported when you reply to my posts and point it out, because odds are, I was trying to be nice.

Exception: If you do not understand Java, I WILL NOT HELP YOU and your thread will get locked.

DO NOT PM ME WITH PROBLEMS. No help will be given.

Can I modify that with just notepad or I need to install something else?

Can you tell me exactly what I need to change within the trapcraft.jar? I have no idea what im really doing but I didnt know where to ask. I just need to be able to place the spikes on the celing.

Lucky for you I just finished doing this for my own mod lol. The best way to do this is by adding 6 boolean properties to the blockstate, and using the resource blockstate json to rotate the model depending on which boolean is true

https://minecraft.gamepedia.com/Model#Block_states

EDIT: Use a direction property

What? No, the "best" way is to have ONE enum property and have your rotation depend on that. You know, the way it is done literally everywhere, even for vanilla blocks like a dispenser.

Nothing?

I take it you are a mod user, not a developer? In that case you would need to find a mod that has that functionality, you can't just change something in the built jar file. Well, technically you can but never do that.

If you are a developer then look at vanilla's dispenser or some other block that can rotate in all 6 directions.

Actually, yeah. What he said. The method I used was to have a thin block occupy multiple faces at once. Just use a DirectionProperty

Im not a developer. Im trying to replace the punji sticks from tic with the spikes from trapcraft, it's the easier way since I can't program. I just don't know which jsons I need to replace.

in the TIC jar file there's a bunch of different punji json files, in assets/tconstruct/models there's punji.json, punji1.json... up to 5, also punji_stick.json and punji_corner.json

on the assets/tconstruct/ folder there's another punji.json file, so im not sure which to replace with spikes.json from trapcraft model folder

i don't care about the recipe or if it's just a cheap hack to do this, i just need it to show up on creative to properly place the trap on the ceiling that's all

If you cannot program, then unfortunately you cannot make a mod.

I know, thats why I just wanted to replace the punji sticks with the spikes because it does the same thing.

If you meant you wish to replace the texture of the punji sticks, then you might want to create a texture pack instead of a mod.

If you wish to remove a block/item from a mod, then remove the recipe(s) for that block/item in one of the inits event. Never remove the registration of the block/item.
