Forge 28.1.X causing crash when killing zombies while invisible

This is my Forum Signature, I am currently attempting to transform it into a small guide for fixing easier issues using spoiler blocks to keep things tidy.

 

As the most common issue I feel I should put this outside the main bulk:

The only official source for Forge is https://files.minecraftforge.net, and the only site I trust for getting mods is CurseForge.

If you use any site other than these, please take a look at the StopModReposts project and install their browser extension, I would also advise running a virus scan.

 

For players asking for assistance with Forge please expand the spoiler below and read the appropriate section(s) in its/their entirety.

...for Installer Issues:

Post your installer log, found in the same place you ran the installer

This log will be called either installer.log or named the same as the installer but with .log on the end

Note for Windows users:

Windows hides file extensions by default so the installer may appear without the .jar extension then when the .log is added the log will appear with the .jar extension

 

Where to get it:

Mojang Launcher: When using the Mojang launcher debug.log is found in .minecraft\logs.

 

Curse/Overwolf: If you are using the Curse Launcher, their configurations break Forge's log settings, fortunately there is an easier workaround than I originally thought, this works even with Curse's installation of the Minecraft launcher as long as it is not launched THROUGH Twitch:

  1. Make sure you have the correct version of Forge installed (some packs are heavily dependent on one specific build of Forge)
  2. Make a launcher profile targeting this version of Forge.
  3. Set the launcher profile's GameDir property to the pack's instance folder (not the instances folder, the folder that has the pack's name on it).
  4. Now launch the pack through that profile and follow the "Mojang Launcher" instructions above.

If you don't see logs generated in the usual place, provide the launcher_log.txt from .minecraft

 

Server Not Starting:

If your server does not start or a command window appears and immediately goes away, run the jar manually and provide the output.

 

Reporting Illegal/Inappropriate Adfocus Ads:

Get a screenshot of the URL bar or copy/paste the whole URL into a thread on the General Discussion board with a description of the Ad.

Lex will need the Ad ID contained in that URL to report it to Adfocus' support team.

 

Posting your mod as a GitHub Repo:

When you have an issue with your mod the most helpful thing you can do when asking for help is to provide your code to those helping you. The most convenient way to do this is via GitHub or another source control hub.

When setting up a GitHub Repo it might seem easy to just upload everything, however this method has the potential for mistakes that could lead to trouble later on, it is recommended to use a Git client or to get comfortable with the Git command line. The following instructions will use the Git Command Line and as such they assume you already have it installed and that you have created a repository.

 

  1. Open a command prompt (CMD, Powershell, Terminal, etc).
  2. Navigate to the folder you extracted Forge’s MDK to (the one that had all the licenses in).
  3. Run the following commands:
    1. git init
    2. git remote add origin [Your Repository's URL]
      • In the case of GitHub it should look like: https://GitHub.com/[Your Username]/[Repo Name].git
    3. git fetch
    4. git checkout --track origin/master
    5. git stage *
    6. git commit -m "[Your commit message]"
    7. git push
  4. Navigate to GitHub and you should now see most of the files.
    • note that it is intentional that some are not synced with GitHub and this is done with the (hidden) .gitignore file that Forge’s MDK has provided (hence the strictness on which folder git init is run from)
  5. Now you can share your GitHub link with those who you are asking for help.

This is not caused by Forge, but it is caused by one of your mods. No idea which one.

The issue is *something* is setting the revenge target of the zombie to null, between when the AI starts running, and when it alerts others to help.

Best bet we could tell you, is to start removing mods and see when it stops.

I do Forge for free, however the servers to run it arn't free, so anything is appreciated.

from searching and looking around  I found that this maybe the issue from Ticking Entity which the crash is caused by a monster or creature that has become corrupted in the data files for the game.

Entities is what Minecraft calls all monsters and creatures in the game. While the game is running. the information for the entity can become corrupted.  but i am not sure what or how this may of happen

No there is not. Because the mod could be modifying the Entity from anywhere.

its just getting frustrating that i have gone to just about all the issue trackers of all the mods that affect loot tablets and mob and everyone keeps telling me its not their mod that is causing it even though i have narrowed it down to disabling any of the ones i have reported that the crash stops the second i disable any of them is well getting frustrating

I believe the problem to be LycanitesMobs seeing how it interacts with the revenge target of the mob and the attack target.

I think I've figured out the general problem. The event they are using isn't fully implemented into forge. It doesn't seem to be called when the revengeTarget is set therefore it progresses into part of the zombie AI where the attackTarget is set, which then calls the event and sets both the attackTarget and revengeTarget to null, but then later on it is assumed the revengeTarget is not null on line 79 of HurtByTargetGoal (in 28.1.1). So technically it is both a Forge "bug"(until LivingSetAttackTarget is called when the revenge target is set) and a Lycanites Mobs bug, probably built for a pre 28.1.** version of forge where this was not a problem. Feel free to link this to on the issue you've created.

okay i posted a issue report for forge referencing this link and hopefully a solution can be found with either forge fixing this issue or the mods themselves

@Animefan8888 @LexManos Okay I finally found the issue its a issue when you attack the zombies while you are invisible as soon as i removed that effect off me and i attacked a zombie that is when it crashes and here is the issue posted on the forge issue tracker since it only happens when invisible

Example modpack with just the mods listed
Testing invisible crash-1.0.0.zip

 

I have started testing this mod with just lycanitesmobs while did not crash so i added EverlastingAbilities and CyclopsCore no crash but the second i add Apotheosis and Placebo and run the same test that is when the crash happens I looked at the code and see that Apotheosis has some custom code for invisibility so i think i narrowed it down to that since the test modpack above just has all the mods we though it was but it did not go crash until Apotheosis  as added into the mix

    • Good Morning, I tried overriding one of the vanilla rock blocks according to instructions in this old thread, but failed for the same reason the org TM did, even though I got a tiny bit farther than he did. I can remove the original block entirely from world spawn, and replace it with custom version, which I want to prevent due to following up workload(adapting recipes etc. to custom block). What I tried solving the issue/actually making replacing(partially) work: 1. I had to use the original Forge variant of registering the block in main class, like that: which actually did use the custom granite block as replacer(not exactly illustrated in the old thread), but didn't consider it on world feature generation... 2. I then believed it was due to not using correct path variables for assets texture/models/blockstates etc., so I created missing asset packets for both, vanilla asset path, and my mod path. This also did not fix the issue with creating holes filled up with Items.AIR on world feature generation. 3. I then tried to remove the vanilla granite block during feature generation, and reimported it after with my replacement set up, during feature generation as well(according to @Luis_ST advice). But the holes were still there, only this time I got my replaced granite block spawned as well. What do I want to achieve(asking myself and you in hope maybe there's a better solution)? Mojang found it a good idea, to give one of the hardest rock materials on this planet, the .harvestLevel(soft as a pillow), so I can harvest it with a wooden pickaxes(which technically is even worth, but doesn't matter since wooden "pickaxe" tools do not exist in my mod). I really just want to compare harvestLevel of any of my tools, against the harvestLevel of the targetBlock, so I can automatically disallow harvesting it, if the tool doesn't match the harvestLevel(which for whatever reason does not work as intended in 1.16.5 Minecraft). Edit: and before you shout "doPlayerHarvestCheck". Yes, I do that! Edit2: Also, why are there Manga Comic Girls, on the right upper corner of my Monitor, stating how can it be that big?(whatever "it" is?)
