I am starting to learn modding on Minecraft. I followed the basic steps of setting up the workspace. I downloaded the Minecraft Forge mdk zip file of the latest version. Installed JDK 8 (as 11+ are not supported). Installed latest version of gradle. I extracted the .zip file and opened powershell in that folder. But when I ran the command `gradle tasks`, as it was given in the tutorial, I am getting the following error:

Quote

FAILURE: Build failed with an exception.

* What went wrong:
A problem occurred configuring root project 'forge-1.14.4-28.1.0-mdk'.
> Failed to notify project evaluation listener.
   > org.gradle.internal.nativeintegration.services.FileSystems.getDefault()Lorg/gradle/internal/nativeplatform/filesystem/FileSystem;

* Try:
Run with --stacktrace option to get the stack trace. Run with --info or --debug option to get more log output. Run with --scan to get full insights.

* Get more help at https://help.gradle.org

Deprecated Gradle features were used in this build, making it incompatible with Gradle 7.0.
Use '--warning-mode all' to show the individual deprecation warnings.
See https://docs.gradle.org/6.0.1/userguide/command_line_interface.html#sec:command_line_warnings

BUILD FAILED in 28s

Then when I ran the other command for decompiling the Minecraft forge files: `gradle setupDecompWorkspace` I am getting the following error:

Quote

FAILURE: Build failed with an exception.

* What went wrong:
A problem occurred configuring root project 'forge-1.14.4-28.1.0-mdk'.

I tried online solutions like upgrading the gradle wrapper, but am still getting the error. How do I fix this error?

Don't. The MDK comes with a gradle wrapper with a specific version of Gradle configured for a reason.

It should be 404, but okay.

Either way, that is not what Gradle is seeing, Gradle is seeing a timeout.

D7 suggested reinstalling Java, it was not a question.

A question you'd already answered and which wasn't the post you quoted. Ergo why D7 asked "How is that at all related to the message you quoted?"

It wasn't related to the post you quoted, but to a post two or three prior.

Well, I tried it again and now the other exceptions are resolved. I think the site was down. But I now get:

      [1.16.4] what difference between custom slots and EquipmentSlotType

      By Klarks · Posted 23 minutes ago

      My constructor looks like this now. public ItemStackHandler handlerCustom; public IItemHandler handlerDefault; public IItemHandler both; LazyOptional<IItemHandler> optional; public WhoreEntity(EntityType<? extends WhoreEntity> type, World worldIn) { super(type, worldIn); handlerCustom = new ItemStackHandler(1); //1 handlerDefault = super.getCapability(CapabilityItemHandler.ITEM_HANDLER_CAPABILITY,Direction.EAST).orElseThrow(null); both = new CombinedInvWrapper(handlerCustom, ((IItemHandlerModifiable) handlerDefault)); optional = LazyOptional.of(() -> both); }   And my Override getCapability. I dont sure what is facing means @Nonnull @Override public <T> LazyOptional<T> getCapability(@Nonnull Capability<T> cap, @Nullable Direction side) { if(cap == CapabilityItemHandler.ITEM_HANDLER_CAPABILITY && side != null) { return (LazyOptional<T>)optional; } return super.getCapability(cap, side); }   Did i do that all right?

      It sends a packet to all/tracking clients, you should be able to do the same thing but without sending to the specific player.

      I have an item which I want to spawn a specific particle for the user, and then a separate particle for other players. Spawning one exclusively for the player using is easy enough, but spawning a particle server side has no way to exclude a specific player. Is there a way to do this without reflection?
