Question about Deferred Registry. (1.14.4)

I was wondering if it would be possible to use Deferred Register without RegistryObjects (such as the example above) without it having any potential issues. The reason I wanted to avoid using RegistryObjects was to prevent crashes such as putting them in a list of carvable fluids for a carver and getting nullPointerException errors. Is this possible? Or should I go back to using Registry Objects?
