I try to install Minecraft Forge 1.12.2 and it gets stuck at that screen

1.12 is no longer supported on this forum due to age.

Please update to a modern version to receive support here.

but is there an alternative to installing minecraft forge 1.12.2 without errors?

like what does the universal do?

I honestly do not know, I never had problems when I used 1.12, but I am on the current 1.15.2 now.

You should just rip off the bandaid and update
