Hi, I don't have great skills in Minecraft mod, but I'm pretty good in Java. However, I did everything I could to convert this mod (the ReachCirclesMod (1.8.9)) to 1.14.4 but impossible. Could someone help me to do it?
Here is the download link for the jar plugin (1.8.9):  [diesieben07: removed random mediafire link]

That's not source code, that's a youtube video.

Apparently I'm a complete and utter jerk and come to this forum just like to make fun of people, be confrontational, and make your personal life miserable.  If you think this is the case, JUST REPORT ME.  Otherwise you're just going to get reported when you reply to my posts and point it out, because odds are, I was trying to be nice.

Exception: If you do not understand Java, I WILL NOT HELP YOU and your thread will get locked.

DO NOT PM ME WITH PROBLEMS. No help will be given.

@Dams Why would you want that mod anyway? Looks like a cheat to me...

It's not a cheat, this mod draws a line 3 blocks from each player, that's all. This allows to see if a player has a reach or not (even if the ping interferes).

No release of the source code, unfortunately...

Then I have no idea how you're going to go about "updating" it.

Howdy

It does look like a fairly simple mod in terms of the amount of work needed to recreate it.  I suggest you don't spend any time trying to find/decompile the source code, it would be easier for you to recreate from scratch.

The basic algorithm I think you need is

1) Subscribe to the RenderWorldLastEvent

2) Iterate through all Entities within a desired distance from the player; eg using world::getEntitiesWithinAABB

3) Draw a circle around each one eg similar to vanilla's worldRenderer::drawSelectionBox or this code here.

The hardest bit will be making the circle appear "real" in space - the original mod appears to drop the circle down onto the ground like a vertical shadow.  You might need to play around quite a bit to make an effect that looks three-dimensional.

Cheers

I think another approach to this would be to subscribe to RenderLivingEvent and draw the circle at the given position from the event. This might be easier to implement, and can be a bit more flexible.

Some tips:

Modder Support:

Spoiler

1. Do not follow tutorials on YouTube, especially TechnoVision (previously called Loremaster) and HarryTalks, due to their promotion of bad practice and usage of outdated code.

2. Always post your code.

3. Never copy and paste code. You won't learn anything from doing that.

Support & Bug Reports:

Spoiler

1. Read the EAQ before asking for help. Remember to provide the appropriate log(s).

2. Versions below 1.11 are no longer supported due to their age. Update to a modern version of Minecraft to receive support.
