Help, I can't disable mod

So, I added the Cubic Chunks Mod and then installed the ExRollerCoaster Mod, and they proved incompatible. So, I went to the mod list to attempt to disable it and it shows a pinkish-red text above the "Disable" button when I select on the Cubic Chunks Mod and clicking it doesn't do anything. Anything I can do other than uninstalling the mod altogether?

Disabling mods at runtime is not supported yet (and probably never will be).

Remove the mod from the mods folder if you do not want it to be loaded.

Alternatively, you could rename the jar file (make sure file extensions are enabled) to <mod>.jar.disabled.

Forge only loads jar files, and that trick has been used by many modpacks/launchers in the past (for example Twitch launcher).

So, I want to verify, when I renamed it to that, a popup showed up that said "If you change a filename extension, the file might become unusable. Are you sure you want to change it?", is it safe to change it and rename it back or might it corrupt the file? I'd assume it wouldn't considering you're recommending it but I want to be absolutely certain. Thanks in advance.

Changing the file extension doesn't affect the file, it's just a name. However, trying to open a changed file could cause whatever program usually opens it to fail (File being "unusable").

Basically, don't try to open a file with a renamed extension, and you won't have any issues.

So, is it ok to keep it in the "mods" folder in ".minecraft" or should I relocate it out of the mods file? I'm asking as I don't want forge to open it by some chance.

It is no longer a jar file, so won't be opened by forge.

An alternative would be to just move the file to a different folder on the system. Or just delete it and download it again later if you want to start using it (Possibly a better option anyway, because the mod might be updated in the meantime, and it's not a good idea to play the same world with different mods to before).

The game still crashes when I renamed the other mod's file... though I'd assume it to be from another issue.
