[1.5.1] Rendering Thrown Entities

Recommended Posts

I've got these lines in my main mod class

RenderingRegistry.registerEntityRenderingHandler(EntitySolidifier.class, new RenderSolidifier(solidifier));
RenderingRegistry.registerEntityRenderingHandler(EntityLifeBomb.class, new RenderLifebomb(lifebomb));

And I've got render classes (they're both the same, really):

package draco18s.decay.client;

import org.lwjgl.opengl.GL11;
import org.lwjgl.opengl.GL12;

import net.minecraft.client.renderer.Tessellator;
import net.minecraft.client.renderer.entity.Render;
import net.minecraft.entity.Entity;
import net.minecraft.entity.projectile.EntityPotion;
import net.minecraft.item.Item;
import net.minecraft.item.ItemPotion;
import net.minecraft.potion.PotionHelper;
import net.minecraft.util.Icon;

public class RenderSolidifier extends Render {
    private Item theItem;

public RenderSolidifier(Item i) {
	theItem = i;
}

public RenderSolidifier(Item i, int damage) {
	theItem = i;
}

@Override
public void doRender(Entity entity, double d0, double d1, double d2, float f, float f1) {
	System.out.println("Rendering?");  //this line never prints
	Icon icon = theItem.getIconFromDamage(0);
	if (icon != null)
        {
            GL11.glPushMatrix();
            GL11.glTranslatef((float)d0, (float)d1, (float)d2);
            GL11.glEnable(GL12.GL_RESCALE_NORMAL);
            GL11.glScalef(0.5F, 0.5F, 0.5F);
            loadTexture("/gui/items.png");//change this..?
            Tessellator tessellator = Tessellator.instance;
            render(tessellator, icon);
            GL11.glDisable(GL12.GL_RESCALE_NORMAL);
            GL11.glPopMatrix();
        }
}

private void render(Tessellator par1Tessellator, Icon par2Icon)
    {
        float f = par2Icon.getMinU();
        float f1 = par2Icon.getMaxU();
        float f2 = par2Icon.getMinV();
        float f3 = par2Icon.getMaxV();
        float f4 = 1.0F;
        float f5 = 0.5F;
        float f6 = 0.25F;
        GL11.glRotatef(180.0F - renderManager.playerViewY, 0.0F, 1.0F, 0.0F);
        GL11.glRotatef(-renderManager.playerViewX, 1.0F, 0.0F, 0.0F);
        par1Tessellator.startDrawingQuads();
        par1Tessellator.setNormal(0.0F, 1.0F, 0.0F);
        par1Tessellator.addVertexWithUV((double)(0.0F - f5), (double)(0.0F - f6), 0.0D, (double)f, (double)f3);
        par1Tessellator.addVertexWithUV((double)(f4 - f5), (double)(0.0F - f6), 0.0D, (double)f1, (double)f3);
        par1Tessellator.addVertexWithUV((double)(f4 - f5), (double)(f4 - f6), 0.0D, (double)f1, (double)f2);
        par1Tessellator.addVertexWithUV((double)(0.0F - f5), (double)(f4 - f6), 0.0D, (double)f, (double)f2);
        par1Tessellator.draw();
    }
}

Nothing renders.  I've even tried using the vanilla snowball renderer (which would work for my item).

What gives?  What am I missing?

This happened to me too...

Apparently when registering an entity you have to do a double registry using EntityRegistry.registerUniqueModID or something as well as registerMob or something like that. I can't remember at this point in time

I am Mew. The Legendary Psychic. I behave oddly and am always playing practical jokes.

I have also found that I really love making extremely long and extremely but sometimes not so descriptive variables. Sort of like what I just did there xD

If you could look that up, that'd be great.

Try adding this into preinit:

EntityRegistry.registerModEntity(EntityGrenade.class, "Grenade", 4, this, 350, 5, false);

That was the other one I was forgetting xD Its EntityRegistry.registerModEntity(EntityGrenade.class, "Grenade", 4, this, 350, 5, false); type thing instead of registerMob :P

Sweet, that worked (after I added a constructor that took only a world as a parameter).  Thanks!

Can you send me your projectile code? or thrown entity code as you put it? I can't get mine to work...

Also, does it actually render as visible? Whenever I try to make projectiles and such I only get an invisible entity :S

The entity is simple, just copy the EntitySnowball, there's really nothing special about it.  You just have to make the item spawn it (see ItemSnowball) and register it correctly (see this thread).

    • They were already updated, and just to double check I even did a cleanup and fresh update from that same page. I'm quite sure drivers are not the problem here.
    • i tried downloading the drivers but it says no AMD graphics hardware has been detected
    • Update your AMD/ATI drivers - get the drivers from their website - do not update via system
    • As the title says i keep on crashing on forge 1.20.1 even without any mods downloaded, i have the latest drivers (nvidia) and vanilla minecraft works perfectly fine for me logs: https://pastebin.com/5UR01yG9
    • Hello everyone, I'm making this post to seek help for my modded block, It's a special block called FrozenBlock supposed to take the place of an old block, then after a set amount of ticks, it's supposed to revert its Block State, Entity, data... to the old block like this :  The problem I have is that the system breaks when handling multi blocks (I tried some fix but none of them worked) :  The bug I have identified is that the function "setOldBlockFields" in the item's "setFrozenBlock" function gets called once for the 1st block of multiblock getting frozen (as it should), but gets called a second time BEFORE creating the first FrozenBlock with the data of the 1st block, hence giving the same data to the two FrozenBlock :   Old Block Fields set BlockState : Block{minecraft:black_bed}[facing=east,occupied=false,part=head] BlockEntity : net.minecraft.world.level.block.entity.BedBlockEntity@73681674 BlockEntityData : id:"minecraft:bed",x:3,y:-60,z:-6} Old Block Fields set BlockState : Block{minecraft:black_bed}[facing=east,occupied=false,part=foot] BlockEntity : net.minecraft.world.level.block.entity.BedBlockEntity@6d1aa3da BlockEntityData : {id:"minecraft:bed",x:2,y:-60,z:-6} Frozen Block Entity set BlockState : Block{minecraft:black_bed}[facing=east,occupied=false,part=foot] BlockPos{x=3, y=-60, z=-6} BlockEntity : net.minecraft.world.level.block.entity.BedBlockEntity@6d1aa3da BlockEntityData : {id:"minecraft:bed",x:2,y:-60,z:-6} Frozen Block Entity set BlockState : Block{minecraft:black_bed}[facing=east,occupied=false,part=foot] BlockPos{x=2, y=-60, z=-6} BlockEntity : net.minecraft.world.level.block.entity.BedBlockEntity@6d1aa3da BlockEntityData : {id:"minecraft:bed",x:2,y:-60,z:-6} here is the code inside my custom "freeze" item :    @Override     public @NotNull InteractionResult useOn(@NotNull UseOnContext pContext) {         if (!pContext.getLevel().isClientSide() && pContext.getHand() == InteractionHand.MAIN_HAND) {             BlockPos blockPos = pContext.getClickedPos();             BlockPos secondBlockPos = getMultiblockPos(blockPos, pContext.getLevel().getBlockState(blockPos));             if (secondBlockPos != null) {                 createFrozenBlock(pContext, secondBlockPos);             }             createFrozenBlock(pContext, blockPos);             return InteractionResult.SUCCESS;         }         return super.useOn(pContext);     }     public static void createFrozenBlock(UseOnContext pContext, BlockPos blockPos) {         BlockState oldState = pContext.getLevel().getBlockState(blockPos);         BlockEntity oldBlockEntity = oldState.hasBlockEntity() ? pContext.getLevel().getBlockEntity(blockPos) : null;         CompoundTag oldBlockEntityData = oldState.hasBlockEntity() ? oldBlockEntity.serializeNBT() : null;         if (oldBlockEntity != null) {             pContext.getLevel().removeBlockEntity(blockPos);         }         BlockState FrozenBlock = setFrozenBlock(oldState, oldBlockEntity, oldBlockEntityData);         pContext.getLevel().setBlockAndUpdate(blockPos, FrozenBlock);     }     public static BlockState setFrozenBlock(BlockState blockState, @Nullable BlockEntity blockEntity, @Nullable CompoundTag blockEntityData) {         BlockState FrozenBlock = BlockRegister.FROZEN_BLOCK.get().defaultBlockState();         ((FrozenBlock) FrozenBlock.getBlock()).setOldBlockFields(blockState, blockEntity, blockEntityData);         return FrozenBlock;     }
