Help with 3-input Tile Entity [solved]

Hi, I have based my code from the furnace code. I have three specific inputs with one output. However, when I put those items in the proper slot nothing happens! Here is my Tile Entity Code:

Edit: I think it is something wrong with the canSmelt() part.

you can't simply compare two itemstacks using the standard == or !=, it will always consider them not equal since they arn't the same object, you should either manually compare their item IDs and Metadata/Damage OR use item1.equals(item2)

addition: You should use item1.isItemEqual(item2) instead of item1.equals(item2), since it compares only the Item ID and the metadata, and not the whole instance itself (which can cause problems). If you want to check if the NBT is equal, too then use ItemStack.areItemStacksEqual(item1, item2)

This thread makes me sad because people just post copy-paste-ready code when it's obvious that the OP has little to no programming experience. This is not how learning works.

You have to make sure there is something in kegItemStacks[0] before you access what is inside it:

if (this.kegItemStacks[0] != null)
{
        if (this.kegItemStacks[0].isItemEqual(new ItemStack(EatMe.yeast)))
        {
		System.out.println("yeast");
		return false;
        }
}
else
{
        //whatever you want to do if that slot is empty
}

Read my thoughts on my summer mod work and tell me what you think!
