Adjusting the Size of Items

Recommended Posts

Hi forum,

I wanted to share something that I think is pretty neat and that you may be wondering how to do. Adjusting the size of items while being held in hand, while not the most important aspect of a mod can be a fun thing to play with, which isn't very complicated, either.

Custom

Custom size, versus default below:

Default

Changing the size is pretty easy. It only has to do with editing the item json file.

Below is the json file for the orange sword seen above.

Finding the size you want requires testing. By changing the scale, you'll probably have to translate the object as well.

{

    "parent": "item/handheld",

    "textures": {

        "layer0": "survivalessentials:item/camiline_sword"

    },

    "display": {
        "ground": {
            "rotation": [ 0, 0, 0 ],
            "translation": [ 0, 3, 0],
            "scale":[ 1, 1, 1 ]
        },
        "fixed": {
            "rotation": [ 0, 0, 0 ],
            "translation": [ 0, 0, 0],
            "scale":[ 1, 1, 1 ]
        },
        "thirdperson_righthand": {
            "rotation": [ 0, 270, 40 ],
            "translation": [ 0, 8, 1],
            "scale": [ 1.3, 1.3, 1.3 ]
        },
        "firstperson_righthand": {
            "rotation": [ 0, 270, 40 ],
            "translation": [ 0, 8, 1 ],
            "scale": [ 1.3, 1.3, 1.3 ]
        },
        "firstperson_lefthand": {
            "rotation": [ 0, 90, -40 ],
            "translation": [ 0, 8, 1 ],
            "scale": [ 1.3, 1.3, 1.3 ]
        },
        "thirdperson_lefthand": {
        	"rotation": [ 0, 90, -40 ],
        	"translation": [0, 8, 1 ],
        	"scale": [ 1.3, 1.3, 1.3]
        }
    }

}
