    Are the newest forge versions compatible with the old MC launcher?

    Hello! I, for technical reasons, have to use the old Minecraft launcher for the game to function and that was fine until I discovered mods and forge. I intend on using the latest forge version with my Minecraft but I'm not aware if it is compatible since I have the old Minecraft launcher. When I downloaded the newest Forge version and installed it correctly (I followed instructions) it didn't appear in my Profiles/Game version list. Is this a known issue or is it due to me not installing the software correctly? (Also, I apologize if I have posted this incorrectly, I'm new to forums!!)
