oh now i feel stupid. thanks i owe you my life... it worked, and its still 2718 so there is no text displaying but i can just download 2749+ and it will work?

sorry i posted the error message this was the command i was using "java -jar forge-1.12.2-14.23.1.2562-universal.jar" the contents of the eula: #By changing the setting below to TRUE you are indicating your agreement to our EULA (https://account.mojang.com/documents/minecraft_eula). #Sun Sep 23 16:03:34 EDT 2018 eula=true (an the timestamp on the eula is quite recent because i tried reinstalling, etc)

hey thanks for the reply. I have tried a bat file and I have also tried CMD. the bat file opens and closes and CMD says "Error: unable to access jarfile forge-1.12.2-14.23.4.2718" heres a picture of my folder. the mods folder does not generate no debug file either.

thanks for all the help... i still haven't found a solution if anyone wants to throw something in.

so i have tried to start a forge server a few times now in whatever way i can think but i run into the same problem. the forge server launches and it shows the statistics on the side like how much memory its using, etc but no words or info on generating or loading a world shows up. i have tried on two different computers and run into a similar problem except on my windows the mods folder doesn't even get generated. on the mac it works a bit better up until i actually want to run the server where it doesn't display anything. i have updated to the latest version of java on both computers and its still not working. im trying to start version 14.23.4.2718 or later but no luck. and i have been using the installer mainly although i tried the .exe version as well on windows. thanks in advance.
