    Mods on newer versions of minecraft

    I haven't played Minecraft in a while so sorry if this is a noob question.. I absolutely love forge!! and I love the mods that need it. I started adding mods to forge and the mods worked but it didn't include the updates from Minecraft. I couldn't see any of the reefs etc.. My goal is to play with the updates and play with my favorite mods. Can i do this with forge and if so how?
