    I downloaded forge-1.12.2.14.23.5.2768 and chose install client. After it ran, I checked the versions folder of .minecraft and the only thing in the forge folder is the .json file. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1ueT4H4G9AAl5ODMi4bZJCf0LnBn_I-zf/view When I checked the Versions drop-down in the Minecraft Launcher, Forge was not there.
