  1. Did a search before posting this and found nought for "java.io.IOException: an existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host" 1.16.4 Trying to play modded 1.16.4 with my son side-by-side, sharing our game, using Forge 35.1.13. We can only play for two seconds before I get kicked. I get kicked off with error "java.io.IOException: an existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host" and then cannot reconnect, receiving "timed out" error afterwards when I try. We were having this problem in 1.16.3 but it was fixed by updating our Forge to latest. We moved to 1.16.4 because Ice and Fire is now available on 1.16.4, and that is his favorite mod. We can only play together for two seconds at a time before getting kicked. We no longer have this problem with other versions, 1.7.10, 1.12.2 etc. Please help. Thanks, M
  2. We actually fixed the problem by updating to the latest version of forge. No more issues in 1.16.3. 1.16.4 on the other hand is even worse. My son wanted to switch to it because of Ice and Fire, so we did. In 1.16.4 I can stay connected for no longer than two seconds, if I can get any play time at all. Version 35.1.13, btw
  3. Can you please identify which mods you think are illegitimate? All mods were obtained through http://www.9minecraft.net.
  4. We have two Win10 PCs trying to play together. Updated Java Edition Minecraft to 1.16.3 (can play 1.16.3 vanilla without issue), installed Java 8 (jre-8u261-windows-x64), installed Forge (forge-1.16.3-34.0.13-installer.jar) on both PCs, installed following mods: Hwyla-forge-1.10.11-B78_1.16.2 Dragon-Mounts-Legacy-Mod-1.16.3.jar WorldEdit-1.16.3.jar jei-1.16.3-7.3.2.33.jar Forbidden-Arcanus-Mod-1.16.3.jar Death-Counter-Mod-1.16.3.jar ToLaserBlade-Mod-1.16.3.jar We can play individual separate sessions of Minecraft 1.16.3 with mods. Whenever attempt to log into shared world on other PC (Esc key, "Open to LAN' option) it crashes with following error: The game crashed whilst unexpected error Error: java.lang.ExceptionInInitializerError: null Exit Code: -1 Attempt to upload crash report to this page failed. 5. That worked, thank you!
  6. Looks like I have to eat my words. H:\MCModding\forge-1.14.4-28.1.98-mdk\src\src\main\java\com\JurassicSr\frankenmod\entity\tile\TileEntityAltar.java:10: error: package com.JurassicSr.frankenmod.client.mcp does not exist import com.JurassicSr.frankenmod.client.mcp.NBTTagCompound; The frustrating part is that I can see the package created (and the classes) in the left hand Project window in IDEA. The point is to create an altar that certain items appear on when placed. I'm using a 1.12.2 mod as code foundation framework that accomplishes this means (in 1.12.2).
  7. Solved that problem already ("created a new package and manually imported it over. Ugly but effective."). At this point the issue is about the benefit of your experience and skill in receiving direction towards good tutorials in training for java/mod creation in 1.14.4 (and on) that I might become an asset to your endeavours here rather than a stress. Completed the SoloLearn curriculum, started https://www.java-made-easy.com/java-for-beginners.html
  8. Thank you for the input, DaemonUmbra, and DavidM. To DaemonUmbra: As I had shared with Diesieben07 in a different ticket, I have devoured (McJty's) Jorrit Tyberghein's "Modding Tutorial 1.14: Episode 1 (IDEA setup, basic mod and first block) after you re-routed me away from 1.7.10. Prior to that I did the first 7 Mr. Crayfish tuts on mod building with a grain of salt as that series is for 1.7.10 but still has good fundamentals, I hope. To DavidM: Sounds good to me, but I am little hesitant only because of uncertainty with the complexity of fixing "all the mapping changes and other changes with your IDE. " If you had a video/tutorial to recommend it would be appreciated. Thanks to you both for your feedback and input. JMAS
  9. Ok, sounds good. Do you have a particular recommendation on where to start on Github? Is there a particular open source mod that has a high degree of functionality that would make a good starting point? (I've noticed that every Java turorial says "comment your code so people can understand what you're trying to accomplish" but the only person I've seen comment their code was the one person who was blasting another mod-author and writing a big "I-told-you-so" in his comments cutting that person down and then claiming superior methodology. It would be nice to see code that has comments that actually explain the outcome.) Thank you JMAS
  10. I'm updating code from 1.12.2 to 1.14.4 and learning the joys of trying to keep up with the changes. If I was a master at JDK 7, then these adjustments would come much quicker. But since I completed my first Java training series a week ago, I'm a bit to the noobier side. I just solved the problem of trying to get 5 different pieces of software to cooperate after your push for me to abandon 1.7.10. (Turns out that allowing IntelliJ to auto-update causes Gradle.build to cease functioning properly.) Nobody helped with that one. I figured it out by trial and error and dissecting the files until eliminating the problem. I have the MCP folder because a video tutorial recommended it. If you have a better video tutorial series I'll happily watch it and learn accordingly.
  11. Thank you for the answer and for the constructive instruction. Officially, I started learning Java about three weeks ago. I completed the SoloLearn program last week, and am 82% of the way done re-viewing it to confirm that what I learned did stick. I'm reading the Oracle tutorials at their website and am up to Controlling Access to Members of a Class. Completed the first seven Mr Crayfish modding tutorials, and devoured Jorrit Tyberghein's "Modding Tutorial 1.14: Episode 1 (IDEA setup, basic mod and first block)" after being excoriated by Daemon Umbra for asking questions about 1.7.10. I've jumped in and started with the Minecraft mods as the review code because I can't learn in a vacuum. I set up the Procyon decompiler and have been reviewing my son's favorite mods and attempting to recompile them for 1.14.4 (per D.U.), which is why my questions are oriented as they are; its the jump from 1.12.2 to 1.14.4 (which would be JDK 7 to JDK 8, I gather). I suspect that Daemon Umbra has lots of experience in coding but very little in human interaction and forgets that his position isn't aiding experts but is aiding newcomers. I thank you again for your instruction and for your good-natured demeanor. Respectfully, JMAS
  12. You know what? Never mind. I just created a new package and manually imported it over. Ugly but effective. Go ahead and close this ticket.
  13. Great. Got an answer?
  14. I apologize in an advance if this is a noob level question: In the class file I'm creating I'm trying to import net.minecraft.nbt.NBTTagCompound which apparently is no longer in the 1.14.4 MDK but instead is at the MCP folder at \mcp940\bin\minecraft\net\minecraft\nbt I have the MCP folder listed in the libraries under project structure (using IntelliJ 2019.3), but in the individual class file I can't get it to make that connection for importing. How do I do this? (P.S. I've been learning to code Java for an hour and 13 minutes now (sarcasm), so thanks for helping me with my learning curve.)
  15. Regarding the Oredict question above about recoding: NonNullList<ItemStack> seed = OreDictionary.getOres("seed");
