  1. The regular official Minecraft Launcher:

Whenever I try to download any version above 1.12.2 (which don't offer me the Windows installer version) it would say that it downloaded successfully into my launcher and created its libraries but when I look at my .minecraft folder, there is nothing downloaded in the versions folder (doesn't appear in the Minecraft Launcher itself either) nor in the libraries/net/minecraftforge folder. It also does not create the mods folder when I download the newer versions alone. I don't know if I'm supposed to be doing something else because in all of the youtube tutorials I watched I've been doing the same exact thing. I've tried disabling my antivirus, uninstalling and reinstalling Minecraft, and used both update 181 and 221 of java and had the same result on each.
