  1. I was afraid of that. I was hoping Forge installer could bypass it. Thank you for the quick reply.
  2. MultiMC is not up-to-date and does not list the most current versions of Forge (or Fabric) and flatout says there are no versions of Forge available for 1.17 (but there are). I want to bypass MultiMC's built-in "install forge" feature and just manually install using Forge's installer. The default path for the Forge installer is the Mojang Launcher folder: C:\Users\Client\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft But I alter it to the following to install into the MultiMC instance instead: C:\Program Files\mmc-stable-win32\MultiMC\instances\1.17.1\.minecraft But Forge installer says the "directory is missing a launcher profile, please run the minecraft launcher first". This is a brand new 1.17.1 MultiMC instance but I already launched it to make sure it was functional before trying to install Forge. I also tried creating an instance with 1.17 instead of 1.17.1. So the Forge installer requires the offical Mojang MC launcher and cannot install into MultiMC? Please advise. Thank you!
  3. Thank you I will try that. I was digging around a lot more online and was finding suggestions to use something like multi MC which allows you to have multiple instances of Minecraft. So I guess that answers my question: you're not supposed to have two versions at the same time but there are workarounds.
  4. I started playing MC recently and started on 1.14.3 (now 14.4.4) using forge and optifine for that version. But I have been wanting to use MCA which means I need to downgrade and create a map with MC 1.12.2 instead. Initially I went into MC Launcher, and installations, and simply changed the Forge to ver 1.12.2 using the drop-down menu. It loaded MC 1.12.2 perfectly fine, I could create a map and play, but there was no MODS button which meant Forge was not actually running. So I thought I needed to install a separate older Forge version, which corresponded to the older MC version, so I did that by downloading the older Forge file and installing it. In my .minecraft, versions folder I had both 1.14.4 forge and 1.12.2 Forge listed. I then tried to load this new installation, and it loaded 1.12.2, but still no MODS button meaning Forge was not actually running. So I removed that new install by simply deleting it from my .minecraft, version folder leaving all the original 1.14.4 files. This messed up my Forge from the launcher which is now called "unnamed installation" and no longer allows me to select versions and is fixed on 1.14.4 (drop down menu inactive). Now I can't even try my initial method of simply switching it to 1.12.2 within the launcher and its locked to 1.14.4. I also tried to reinstall the Forge 1.14.4 to overwrite and correct the mess-up but that did nothing. Soooooo I can play 1.14.4 with Forge just fine, even though it looks messed up in the launcher, but I am still unable to play 1.12.2 with Forge and MCA like I wanted. What do I do to fix this?
