I wanted to start modding for the first time, but whenever i try to click the ready to update and play, it says

I have to use the windows vista compatability launcher for windows 10 because the windows 10 launcher wont even launch minecraft. my computer has been popping up with errors lately i guess because its old. i am using the 1.12.2 launcher. Thanks!
