I have looked for the logs for today. I had like, 10 different minecraft folders for some reason and I went through them all and none of the logs were listed for today. The most recent log was a few days ago when I tried to open the launcher and it reinstalled or something but all of my preset installations including forge were gone along with all my worlds so I am going to delete minecraft and just re download it and start fresh. Any ideas on any other way to fix my problems?

I downloaded the recommended forge for 1.12.2 and I also downloaded mods that are compatible with it but none show up when I start the game even though i put them in the mods folder. I tried other folders like the forge launcher folder and it didn't work. It's not an issue of to many mods at once either because they aren't working on their own either. I downloaded the exact same mods as my friend and it works for them so I am very confused. Any help would be appreciated. I've also tried re downloading forge as well and I still have this issue.
