........ I found the answer........ I have a PiHole setup in my VM network... That was blocking the connections due to the ads.

Been awhile since I've admined (1.7 was my last) and trying to get back in. I'm trying to install forge 1.12.2-14.23.5.2838 within Ubuntu 18.04. I'm running this on a Hyper-V VM, 8 procs, 16gb ram.
