I had this very same issue yesterday, so just registered to help out. after a bit of googling, I added " -XX:MaxPermSize=128m" to my MultiMC extra java settings, and everything has been smooth since. How you add this java parameter will depend on how you are running Minecraft of course. The number might need increasing though, as I am only(?) running 80+ mods right now.
