    Cannot use OptiFine with Forge since about 1.12

    I have been using OptiFine with forge with pretty much all of the Modpacks i have played, but since 1.12 (or 1.13, i can't recall) Forge installations just don't recognise Optifine as a mod at all or just crash. I have tried both just pasting the .jar file in the mods folder and extracting the MOD file and doing the same, nothing works. My latest attempts were for 1.15 (forge-31.1.27, preview_OptiFine_1.15.2_HD_U_G1_pre13) and 1.14 (forge-28.2.4, OptiFine_1.14.4_HD_U_F5). I would really like to use my Minimap and Optifine at the same time again.
