Thanks everyone who took the time to look at this, I'm not sure what was wrong with my original forge.zip, may have been the wrong one, but I used the link in the FAQs to redownload and it is currently working. So thank you again, and hopefully I will never need to ask for help again.

I downloaded MCPatcher which has attempted to install forge, but seemingly still to no avail. here is the log MCP produced

i apologize if my ignorance in all this is a bit frustrating, I'm pretty new to modding in general (the last time i had a pc good enough for gaming i think Counter Strike 1.6 was in it's heyday. By launcher I'm assuming you mean the Minecraft executable or the standard launcher Minecraft provides for you on their home site. For the logs, I've been having trouble getting them, probably because I'm having trouble setting the Java environment variable. I'll work on it again now and attempt to get a log for you guys.

Hello, I am brand new to this forum, recently got a computer for the first time in 5 years so I am a little slow on the uptake seeing as I am very rusty. I have followed all instructions to install forge onto minecraft following a video tutorial as well as using the instructions located on this site. Currently my minecraft is loading no problem, but... There is no sign of Forge being on there despite me having moved over all necessary files into the .jar. I had tried first only deleting the mojang file in the META-INF to no avail, I then deleted the META_INF folder altogether and still it appears as though it is not working. To clarify what I mean by not working, in the video tutorial I had watched it stated that after you had moved all necessary files over into the .jar when you load minecraft it will have a loading screen showing that forge is doing its own load/update. I do not see that, as well as when minecraft is open and on the main title screen it does not show forges version info. If anyone has any further advice i would appreciate it, I looked through the forums to find a topic with a similar issue but I did not find anything... Thank you for any help you can give
