    I found links and dependencies in the modpack and was able to write a script to download and copy over the contents of each jar file. So this has been solved.

    I thought it might of been the version of forge I was using so I switched down to 1.12.2 and still no dice

    I'm trying to install a mod with forge but I haven't modded minecraft in a while. I absolutely do not wan't to install any additional 3rd party bloatware to install it for me like overwolf or twitch. For some reason I put the zip file in the mods folder but forge doesn't recognize it. I can't find much help after hours of googling. There has to be something easier than this, can't I just open the .jar files and manually install the mods?
