    General Questions regarding use of Forge and Versions

    I have recently started a server that will be used by myself and friends. My computers MC java version is 1.16.5 like everyone. However the versions of some mods I downloaded off the forge site are all version 1.16.4. I do get a versioning issue when I connect to my MC server, I assume this is the issue. Do I need to wait until these 1.16.4 mods need to get updated to 1.16.5 before I can use them? (or can they be used as is?) Is there a location in the .jar of each mod where I can change the version of these mods, etc? One other issue I do not understand yet is why is my system prompting me to put my mods under my 'user minecraft' area? (C:\Users\Phil\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft\mods) It would seem they should go under the server's mod directory (C:\MC\forge\server1.16.5\mods).
