The game crashed whilst rendering overlay Error: java.lang.RuntimeException: Couldn't watch config file. Tried forge 47.2.20, 50.1.0, and 50.1.12 with the same results. Running on Ubuntu 22.04 LTS, OpenJDK version 21.0.4. File reappears with each launch.

Weird. The only option I ever set was the RAM options. Thanks, reseting the arguments in the launcher worked.

Can you elaborate? I have never seen this before.

Just updated to 1.18.1. Error present on forge versions 39.0.63 &39.0.64. I installed 39.0.64 first & downgraded to 63. Error only occurs with forge, 1.18.1 vanilla loads fine. No mods installed at this time. Steps taken: reinstalled java, reinstalled forge, reinstalled minecraft. No Change. Using Java classic launcher.
