I really appreciate the help, although that didn't work... This link: (https://www.dropbox.com/s/r7wq7jqk90k5q8s/Campfire.tcn) is the link to the dropbox file for my Techne model, I still appreciate the help you've given me Senitiel, and I still need some more help... Thanks, Mrkennedyfreak

Hey all! I'm trying to get a custom model from Techne loaded into the game, but its being a pain in the arse... The attached is a screenshot of how it currently looks in-game: Here is the code that I have: CampfireRender.java package Kennedyfreak.survivalchaos; import net.minecraft.block.Block; import net.minecraft.client.renderer.RenderBlocks; Thanks, Mrkennedyfreak

What function gets called when you schedule an update? Maybe....use that function to...schedule an update? I know that, but what function gets called? I've tried everyone I can think of from the Block.class, but none of them actually work
-
Thanks for the function, but I don't know where to put it... I tried putting it in a new worldTick(World world) function in my Tick Hanldler, but then I get a null-pointer, and if I put it in the block class inside of a "BlockPlaced" function, it only updates once...
-
Hey all, me again! This time I'm trying to get a light to flicker, its for a creepy, "horror"-like mod, where there is a map and I want the light to flicker on and off at random times... I can create the block, and I can create a tick handler, but I don't know how to combine the two, I tried adding a worldTick(World world) function in my "MyPlayerHandler" class but it crashes the game as soon as it ticks... If you need any more information please let me know in this post or via PM, thanks for all the help guys!

It doesn't work for me though! Here is my code, I think it might help you guys figure out what I'm actually trying to do and how it is supposed to work (Lines 34-74): package megateam.megamanxrpg; import java.util.Timer; import java.util.TimerTask; import net.minecraft.client.Minecraft; import net.minecraft.entity.Entity; import net.minecraft.entity.EntityLiving; import net.minecraft.entity.player.EntityPlayer; import net.minecraft.entity.player.EntityPlayerMP; import net.minecraft.item.EnumToolMaterial; import net.minecraft.item.ItemStack; import net.minecraft.item.ItemSword; import net.minecraft.src.ModLoader; import net.minecraft.util.DamageSource; import net.minecraft.world.World; public class ZBlade extends ItemSword{ int tickssinceuse = 0; boolean cantripleslash = false; public static DamageSource blades; EntityPlayer player = ModLoader.getMinecraftInstance().thePlayer; World world = ModLoader.getMinecraftInstance().theWorld; Timer t = new Timer(); public ZBlade(int id, EnumToolMaterial mat){ super(id, mat); } @Override public boolean onLeftClickEntity(final ItemStack stack, final EntityPlayer player, final Entity entity) { if(MyPlayerHandler.canUseAbility == true){ MyPlayerHandler.canUseAbility = false; MyPlayerHandler.swings = 0; MyPlayerHandler.ticks = 0; player.sendChatToPlayer("You used the Z-Saber \"Triple Slash\" ability!"); entity.hurtResistantTime = 0; MyPlayerHandler.displayedMsg = false; new Timer().schedule(new TimerTask(){ @Override public void run(){ entity.attackEntityFrom(DamageSource.generic, 10); } }, 0); // new Timer().schedule(new TimerTask(){ // @Override // public void run(){ // entity.attackEntityFrom(DamageSource.generic, 10); // } // }, 500); // new Timer().schedule(new TimerTask(){ // @Override // public void run(){ // entity.attackEntityFrom(DamageSource.generic, 10); // } // }, 1000); new Timer().schedule(new TimerTask(){ @Override public void run(){ MyPlayerHandler.displayedMsg = false; MyPlayerHandler.canUseAbility = false; MyPlayerHandler.swings = 0; MyPlayerHandler.ticks = 0; } }, 1200); } return false; } @Override public ItemStack onItemRightClick(ItemStack itemStack, World world, EntityPlayer entityPlayer) { if (!world.isRemote) { } return itemStack; } } Again thanks for all the help, I love the community here, its extremely helpful and friendly!

Hey guys, I've been working on this issue all freaking night! I'm trying to damage an entity without making the player do it, such as an ability that would deal a specific amount of damage to the entity that the player has clicked, a certain amount of times... I have code made already but I don't want to post it publicly, so if you want to see what I've done, please PM me and I'll send you the code. Just to break it down: I have a sword that I want to have an ability after you swing it a certain amount of times in a certain time, that works perfectly, and I want it to send a message to the player when they've activated the ability and when its ready to be used, also working perfectly, but the biggest problem that has been kicking my ass for 3 whole hours is how to damage the entity, I'm not necessarily worried about editing base classes because we want our mod not to work with any others any way, but there has GOT to be a way to do this without modifying the base classes! What I've tried: entity.attackEntityFrom() entity.damageEntity() (Messes with base classes because the method is protected) player.attackEntityWithCurrentItem() (Doesn't work at all for some reason) I appreciate any help anyone could provide me, I have to go to sleep immediately after I post this because its 1:50 in the morning and I have school tomorrow, so thanks!

Hey forge, me again I'm trying to create a custom GUI that will display classes that you can select once you join the server or once you create a new world on SP... I am an advanced Java programmer, and I know forge pretty well, but I'm stumped on this one! If anyone could guide me to a tutorial (please not the one on the forge wiki, it sucks) I want to have an "onPlayerJoined" event open the GUI, and I don't know how to make the GUI either, all I want are a few buttons: "X", "Zero", a few others, and "More Info" and "Select". Any help would be appreciated, and I don't need the exact code, but if you are willing to give it up, I'd be more than happy to accept it! Thanks, Mrkennedyfreak

But how do I stop the player in mid air? I think that might work, but the player has to be on a block to be able to jump, so then how do I do that? I've tried using player.posY = player.posY + 1, but that removes all velocity from the player, and if I use changePositionAndUpdate function, the player keeps their velocity, but it flings the player up too high.

Hey Sypher! I've been working on a similar thing for a mod that I'm making and I think I may be able to help you. If you wanted to, you could make a MouseListener that extends the mod mouse listener. I have some basic code if you would like a look! Send me a PM, I think I understand what you want, and I think I can help with your issue! Thanks, Mrkennedyfreak

Hey world of forge! Me and a friend are doing a collaboration mod, and we need a double jump function to either work when the user presses space, or presses a different key, I know how to program in java 90%, but this is bugging me! I have the class that I want to use, and I know that it reads the key when I press it, but I don't know how to make the player double-jump without it sending the player extremely far up in the air, or not doing anything at all! All I need to know is how to change the player data to make the player jump twice. Thanks!
