Hello Ladies and Gentlemen,
this is the first time I have posted on this forum. Please ignore/move/whatever this post if I am posting in the wrong section. I have read the "please read before you post or you may get banned" and I will work through the list as I write this post. Basically my problem is very simple, when I install a specific mod that I want (better blocks 1.2.4 that lots of people claim works on minecraft 1.2.5, in fact I can get it running in a stable fashion just not with forge) and then install forge afterwards (or before) all the leaves on my trees decay the moment I step into the world.
I downloaded the mod from www .minecraftdl .com, the mod author uses the handle grims and allegedly the mod was updated in june 2012. There is some argument between people about whether this mod works for 1.2.5 (I can make this work with modloader only) and there are other download locations with different authors credited (1 who credits grim and says I have permission to post here) with different update timestamps.
Now the mod itself states you need mod loader (download links v1.2.5) in the instructions. When I install this and then the mod I do not get the leaf decay problem. Unfortuneately I want to install other mods that need forge.
Ive spent hours now obtaining a fresh jar, building up slowly and trying to get this working. I am wondering if anyone here has had/heard of this problem or has any obvious ideads why this is happening.
Im curious if the forge mod loader is 100 percent compatible with risugamis mod loader (which if it is I guess the problem is with the mod itself, or a possible bad 3 way combo).
So, if modloader is instaled and better blocks it works. If I install forge version 3.3.8.152 over the top my leaves decay. If I install forge then better blocks the leaves still decay.
ForgeModLoader-0 reads as spoiler below
There is no crash so no crash report.
Also possibly as an aside but some who know more may know that this is related. There seems to be a lighting error with this mod, that randomly tree trunk blocks are less lit than the blocks directly above them and below the, resulting in many trees having a dark trunk block or two. Dont know if this is related.
After googling all of this many times I can find quite a few people with the leaf block problem. 1 youtube video says this happens if you gen a world with the mod installed but I have tried to gen and then add the mod and I have the same leaf decay problem. Also 1 person mentioned the lighting error as a bug.
I have joined the minecraftdl (the place I downloaded the mod) forum and will post there as soon as I can.
Thanks for taking the time to read this and any information or help you can offer is gratefully accepted.
