    As it turns out, i looked at one of the related threads and found out that i somehow downloaded an old version of forge. Problem solved. I downloaded the most recent version and it runs fine. This thread can be closed/deleted!

    I recently wiped my computer of all things related to minecraft to ensure a clean install. I went to minecraft's site, downloaded minecraft.exe and ran it. Then i used the most recent version of the forge installer. When i tried to run the forge profile from the launcher, i received this error message:
