Installing forge in none default location?
I'm not sure if I follow what has been said in the last few posts. I hope I have not upset anyone? My purpose in wanting to remove minecraft from the C: drive is that having built a new pc I am using a 250gb SSD M2 drive as my OS drive. Being as its rather smaller I don't it getting cluttered with games - especially ones that can get rather large if not watched. So I am going to presume that the conversation is about how the minecraft_stager program works.

Installing forge in none default location?
Thanks for this. Once Id got my head around what it was telling me and where to get the minecraft_staging file I had a go at trying to understand what was happening. I can now happily report that I not only have forege running where I want it but also that the .minecraft folder is no longer on my C: drive. A very big thank you for pointing me in the right direction.

Installing forge in none default location?
Not completely no. Ive had it installed elsewhere before. Ive tried copying the contents of the folder on the c: drive to the d drive but it makes no difference. When the forge installer is launched it gives you the option of changing from the default location. As far as I know that should work I'm just not sure why its not working on this occasion.

Installing forge in none default location?
If I install forge in its default location (c:\users\username\appdata\roaming\.minecraft) it installs without problem. However if I try to install it in a none default location (as in on drive d: instead of c:) - I have problems with it. It looks as if its installed according to the forge installer however when you go into minecraft it does not show up in profile so I cannot create a forge version. Can anyone tell me why and is there a solution to it please? I have java 64bit installed. This also a new computer so no baggage from other software at the moment.

Having a problem updating forge
Thanks for the help. I finally sorted it by reinstalling java. Not sure why that should have been necessary though as it was working fine and showed no problems.

Having a problem updating forge
Thanks for the info but Ive tried that and I dont get that option. The latest version it gives me is "release Forge-1.6.2" It does not give me the option to select anything with an extension number beyond that.

Having a problem updating forge
Hi folk, Im having a problem updating my forge. I am running minecraft 1.6.2. A couple of the mods I want to use tell me I need to be running forge 9.10.1.8**. My current version is 9.10.0.789. I have downloaded the latest version of the forge installer but when I click on it it flashes a window very briefly onto the screen but does not give me the window where I choose if I want client or server version etc that I remember from installing the version Im currently using. Im missing something obvious but I cant figure out what. Ive tried renaming my .minecraft folder and installing from scratch but I just get the same response. So Im stuck wit the forge version I currently have installed. Can anyone please help and tell me what Im missing or failing to do? Thanks Antony
