  1. Actually, I wasn't triggering the sound at all yet- but I figured out the problem those triple question marks in the error are representing an unknown symbol; checking my sounds.json again reveals that the quotes around Ambient_Hit were either in italics or a different font. Changing theses to normal quotes has allowed the sound to load. As for playing the sound, is it just a simple matter of: world.playSoundAtEntity(player, "gemflow:Ambient_Hit", 1.0F, 1.0F);
  2. Thanks for the idea, but I get the same error with the format that you suggested. My sounds.json file is located at assets/gemflow as well, so that isn't the problem either. Any other suggestions?
  3. I'm trying to update a mod to 1.7.2, and sounds.json is giving me some grief. [spoiler=My sounds.json file] { “Ambient_Hit”: {"category": "master","sounds": [{"name": “Ambient_Hit”,”stream": false}]} } The mod is named Gemflow, so the file is located at assets/gemflow/sounds/Ambient_Hit.ogg, but on startup the console says: [spoiler=console excerpt] Starting up SoundSystem... Initializing LWJGL OpenAL (The LWJGL binding of OpenAL. For more information, see http://www.lwjgl.org) OpenAL initialized. [16:16:57] [Client thread/WARN]: File gemflow:sounds/???Ambient_Hit???.ogg does not exist, cannot add it to event gemflow:???Ambient_Hit???
