I'm not running Java 8. I could just be a complete dufus if this is the case--I don't have a .gradle folder, do I have to download gradle somewhere? It didn't say that anywhere on the getting started page.

Somebody else had this same issue (http://www.minecraftforge.net/forum/index.php?topic=17247.0), but they were not given what appears to be any useful advice.
