turns out that java was not in my path environment variable so I created a bat file to run it as follows "C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre7\bin\java" -Xmx1024M -Xms1024M -jar forge-1.7.2-10.12.1.1060-installer.jar I will try adding it to the environment variable to see it that works as well

Unfortunately the .jar installer isn't working either! This one says it can't find a correct program to run it with, and then in the 'open with' section there is no option for java, therefore I can't run the program.

Java is definitely installed, and to version 7. Proof: This is the error message I get when I try to run the installer:

When I try to run the forge installer I get this message: "This application requires a Jave Runtime Environment 1.6.0" Not sure why it's not working if it can work fine with Java 7. Any ideas of what I could try?

Hello, I recently tried to download forge 1.7.2, however, I cannot download it as it requires Java version 1.6, but my java has updated to 1.7. There is no way of downloading older versions of Java, so is there anything I can do, or do I need to wait until forge is compatible with Java 1.7? Thanks for any help!
