so i did a manual install of both minecraft and forge, this time 28.1.85 and got a debug.log

ADDITIONAL INFO: it is not limited to the custom pack i was making, FTB unstable also does this

Minecraft 1.14.4 Forge 28.1.80 no mods installed - to ensure it is forge started from twitch launcher when i hit play from the launcher the window pops up, and i can see the FML text on top, but nothing else CPU usage drops to %0 - %1 (usually 30+) this happens on all versions 28.1.36 - 28.1.80 that i have tested. below is all i get for a log, no debug.log and no true complete log Also, dont know if this is related, but it last worked on 28.1.8, on 28.1.34 no mods actually load despite being in the mods folder i left it overnight (6 hours) to make sure it wasnt just being slow, there was no change in load status

ok, figured out somehow Bspkr core was downloading a newer version and leaving the old one in the mods folder, no idea how it happened though
