Thanks for the info. Ok, that works for single player games. How would I run a mod on the server so all could use?

I assume the .jar file goes only in the mods folder for the client? Although I tried client, server, and both. Now that I know for sure how not to place the file, I'll look further.

"No luck" as in the mod isn't present. So far I tried dropping the .jar file in the mod directory, then tried dropping the folder with the jar file in it, then the jar file and the .json file together. I'll look for the logs.

I am New to Forge. Installed latest version on server and one client. How do I get other mods to work? I thought you just put the mod files in the mod directory? I've been trying so far with Optifine which I read was compatible, but no luck.
