Hi. So, for some reason, my computer hates forge. It's fine with normal minecraft, but hates forge. Hopefully you can help.
I'm trying to use minecraft 1.7.10 with forge, no mods installed yet. So I go download the forge(win) installer for that version and install it. Using the new minecraft launcher, I change to the new forge profile, click play...and nothing for a moment. It flashes the minecraft window for a second, it's screen black, and then goes back to the launcher's game output tab with a EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION error.
Ok, so after some research, I learned three things:
- Forge works best with Java 7, and hates Java 8. So, I went into the forge profile and changed the advanced java settings to java 7. No change.
- The 0xc0000005 part means that java can't connect with minecraft for some reason. I tried using using "Run as administrator" on minecraft, java.exe, and javaw.exe, and no change.
- Adding -Dforge.forceNoStencil=true to the JVM arguments under the java advanced settings might help avoid some rare bug. But for me it did nothing. Guess I don't have that rare bug. Hooray?
I've tried updating my AMD graphics card drivers, but they are already up to date. I've reinstalled forge multiple times, even trying 1.8, 1.7.2. I've tried running minecraft normal once, then trying the forge profile, and nothing. I've tried turning off firewalls and trying again, nothing. I tried reinstalling java 7, nothing.
I'm out of ideas of things to google or try. Hoping for some ideas, advice, or general "don't give up, you can do it" pep talks.
Here's the error report file. Let me know if there's something else you need.
